Jerry is one of the most accomplished & experienced music instructors to
be found anywhere with almost 50 years of teaching experience.

I did not begin piano lessons until I was an adult. For the first few years, I received instruction from a renowned college music professor, a teacher at a busy music studio, and a young mother with a piano education who taught from her home.
Although I loved to play the piano, I found the lessons from these various teachers to be either tedious or pointless. They would either insist that I play music that I did not care for, require me to endlessly learn rote scales, or made me feel like I was just another in a long assembly line of interchangeable students. Many times I would wonder to myself whether I could derive just as much by following a lesson book and practicing on my own for free.
When I began lessons with Jerry, that all changed. I found that I looked forward to each lesson. My playing improved steadily, without practicing hated music or rote scale work. I increased my lesson times so that I could learn more from Jerry and progressed even more. Jerry takes the time to learn how to best teach each individual student, and works to keep the student inspired. He provides feedback, guidance, and encouragement, while celebrating the strengths of each student. Most of all, he cares about fostering each students' progress and appreciation for music. I cannot imagine continuing my journey to master the piano without Jerry. Jerry is a magical individual with a special gift for inspiring the inner musician for those lucky enough to be his students.

My Appreciation to Jerry McLendon
I have been taking piano lessons from Jerry McLendon for twenty years. I started taking
piano lessons around the age of thirty eight. I took piano lessons as a teenager but abruptly
quit. When I became an adult all I wanted to do was be able to read music. It was a simple
goal for me to accomplish. I was thinking to myself that learning to play the piano would take
about two years.
Well! That was just the beginning because Jerry had a way of presenting so many facets of
music that I wanted to know everything. I became obsessed and fascinated with all that I was
learning. Jerry introduced me to the world of improvisation and in the art of "Faking".
Because Jerry recommended musical theory as part of my curriculum, improvisation became
a probability. What an incredible musical journey it has been with Jerry. My dreams and
creative intentions have come true in a way I only imagined in the past.
Jerry has a gift for "tuning" into your musical goals in a style that assists you toward creative
accomplishment. Jerry taps into your strengths and at the same time building upon your present
foundation.
I came to learn that any creative commitment is a multi level learning experience filled with
personal growth and increased self awareness.
With Jerry the journey involves building confidence, accepting and allowing the ups and
downs, feeling supported in the process and more importantly celebrating one's joy in
learning ITSELF.
Learning music can be a beautiful and soulful experience that adds richness to
one's life beyond explanation.
